History
The WagonTrack model represented the last generation of tractor units for wagon convoys, primarily used for luggage distribution at airports. Its parallel-bicycle configuration, with gyroscopic balance and compact size, enhanced maneuverability when circulating without wagons, allowing repositioning between terminals.
Today, with modern boarding solutions in modular cabins on CombyTrans-class aircraft, the convoy-drawn cart system has become partially obsolete. It can still be observed in operation at certain older airport terminals or at most cruise port terminals, where this type of solution remains necessary to deliver luggage to ship cabins.
Current WagonTrack units access cruise ship holds via ramps, from where large freight elevators distribute luggage by floor, now using manual methods.
Another application of this legacy system is the transport of packages seized at customs. From the entry terminal, items are diverted to specific convoys destined for port customs warehouses, where they are sorted until bureaucratic processing is complete.
